Let’s Yield a Mighty Harvest Together

You have our solemn commitment to work as hard as we possibly can to multiply the impact of every single dollar you give today so that many more Jewish people may come to know their Messiah.

Dear Friends,

I’m sitting at my desk with nearly a dozen encouraging stories on my computer screen. Each one is of a Jewish person who recently prayed with a Jews for Jesus missionary to receive the Lord. Let me tell you just one of those wonderful stories:

My wife Laura was in Israel last month with our team in the Sharon region (north coast of Tel Aviv). During her time there, they received a phone call from a woman who saw one of our banners proclaiming the name of Yeshua at a busy intersection.

Evelyn* is a Romanian-born Jew in her early 60s who called to ask who we are and what our sign is about. One of our missionaries explained that we’re Jews who believe in Yeshua, the promised Messiah and deliverer of Israel. He offered to send her a copy of a Hebrew New Testament.

A week later, our missionary called Evelyn back. She had begun reading the New Testament and invited him to come to her home and share more with her. Her husband was also there to hear the conversation. Since her childhood in Romania, Evelyn had heard about Jesus but never understood how she as a Jew could believe in Him as her Saviour.

But after our missionary talked with her about the Messiah from both the Old and New Testaments, and about God’s plan for the Jewish nation, Evelyn’s heart was opened to receive the Lord and Messiah of Israel. Please pray for her growth (she’s now attending a local congregation) and for the salvation of her husband, children and grandchildren.

This story is typical of those resulting from the ministry of Jews for Jesus. And that’s why I’m writing you and other key supporters of this work.

I want to present you with a unique opportunity to have even more impact through our outreach work in Canada. With your special gift to Jews for Jesus, you’ll enable Evelyn’s story to be repeated in many, many more Jewish hearts. Let me explain . . .

We need your financial partnership. That’s because it’s often a long and difficult journey for Jewish people to overcome the religious tradition and social pressure that prevent so many Jews from coming to Christ. It truly is a miracle when a Jewish person can finally recognize that the Jesus whose story is told in the Gospels IS the Messiah whose coming is foretold in the Old Testament.

There are 3 distinct steps to salvation highlighted in Evelyn’s story. I’ll explain them using the well-known Bible metaphor of farming.

Three simple steps can yield a mighty harvest.
The first step is plowing the field.
1.
The second step is sowing the seed.
2.
The third step is watering the crop.
3.

The first step is plowing the field, preparing the soil to receive the seed. In the story, the plowing occurred as our missionaries were “out in the field” at a busy intersection in Tel Aviv, lifting up the name of Jesus and encouraging people to inquire. This activity caught Eveyln’s attention.

The second step is sowing the seed. Evelyn called our Tel Aviv office. Our missionary spoke with her, answered her questions and then, in this case, sent her the seed: a copy of the New Testament in Hebrew.

The third step is watering the crop. Our missionary called Evelyn back. At her invitation, we went to her home and continued the watering by teaching the Bible to Evelyn and to her husband as well. And praise the Lord, God gave the increase! Evelyn prayed to receive Jesus. Now we are discipling her and praying for the rest of her family to be saved too.

Interestingly, Evelyn came to believe in Jesus in a very short time. More often, it takes months of regular contact and instruction before we finally see God giving the increase. But it’s clear that she came to put her trust in Jesus in part because a trained Jews for Jesus missionary followed up and spent time meeting one-on-one with her. Last year, we made 10,319 such visits to seekers around the world! That can only happen through your support!

Right now I’m asking for your gift to help provide the seed—copies of the New Testament personally delivered and explained in a visit by a trained Jews for Jesus missionary—so that we can share the gospel one-on-one with people like Evelyn.

It all starts with the opportunity to walk through the Scriptures together. Then we can show how clearly the Old and New Testaments reveal God’s heart—His desire to have a personal relationship with each of His chosen people through His Son, Jesus. Your gift will guide people like Evelyn to salvation and bring in the harvest!

And I have some wonderful news for you that will make this opportunity even more attractive and encourage your generosity. Last year, we had to buy New Testaments at an average cost of about $5 each. Since then, one of our generous friends has agreed to donate New Testaments with the Psalms in English free of charge to all of our branches in North America. All we have to do is cover the cost of each missionary meeting with and sharing the Scriptures with a seeker. Isn’t that great news?

Your generous gift will support and equip our trained Jews for Jesus missionaries, who will make initial contact with a Jewish person on the streets of major cities (plow the field), share the New Testament (sow the seed) and follow up one-on-one (water the crops). You can have an incredible impact!

This is an opportune time of plowing, planting and watering. During the Pan Am Games we had a significant presence on the streets of the GTA and social media highways. Two Jewish men are typical examples of plowing planting and watering:

Ted* gave his contact information to one of our outreach workers near the Air Canada center during the games. I called him the next day and he told me that he has been spiritually hungry his whole life. I sent him some literature and a Bible and we talked again the next week. I have visited with Ted and will continue to do so.

Aaron* called our offices after receiving literature at one of the Pan Am events. I called him the next day and found him as well to be spiritually hungry. He also wanted a Bible. I have spoken to him a few times over the phone and we hope to visit soon.

Of course, I can’t guarantee your financial support will yield the harvest of someone like Evelyn, Ted or Aaron. After all, it is God who gives the increase! But I can promise you this: You have our solemn commitment to work as hard as we possibly can to multiply the impact of every single dollar you give today so that many more Jewish people may come to know their Messiah.

Now is an intensive time of sowing and reaping. Now is a time of harvest. But we need your partnership to share the Word of God! As you might imagine, I have come to really rely on you and other partners who are able to support Jews for Jesus in a significant way . . . faithfully and generously. If you can help again right now, I would be deeply grateful for the boost you’ll provide to our critical outreach ministries.

Please join us with prayer and the best gift the Lord leads you to make so that He might give the increase and receive all the glory.

Shalom in Him,
